Data Centre Commissioning Project
Isotherm Engineering was appointed to deliver independent mechanical and electrical commissioning services for a mission-critical data centre facility, supporting the client’s objectives for high availability, resilience, and operational continuity in alignment with Uptime Institute Tier design and operational principles.
The project consisted of the renovation and expansion of critical data centre infrastructure, requiring the seamless integration of new systems within a live operational environment. Isotherm provided commissioning across all core disciplines, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems, ensuring each system met design intent and functioned reliably as part of a fully integrated facility.
In addition, the project included the renovation and expansion of Critical Alarms Monitoring systems, with commissioning validating alarm logic, prioritisation, and integration with the site monitoring platforms to support rapid fault identification and response.
Isotherm also commissioned electrical diverse power paths and the expansion of Auxiliary UPS systems for both IT and non-IT loads, ensuring uninterrupted power continuity during utility failures, transfer events, and maintenance conditions. This safeguarded both IT equipment and essential support systems, maintaining full operational capability.
The scope included full Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Commissioning, delivered through a structured commissioning process with Commissioning Levels (Cx) 1 through 5 successfully completed:
Project Outcome
Through the successful execution of Cx Levels 1–5, Isotherm delivered a fully validated, resilient, and operationally ready data centre. Key outcomes included:
Verified Tier-aligned redundancy and fault tolerance
Reduced operational and integration risk during live renovation
Proven system performance under real-world failure scenarios
Enhanced uptime assurance and confidence at final handover
Isotherm’s comprehensive commissioning approach ensured the facility was delivered ready for continuous operation, supporting long-term reliability, maintainability, and availability in line with data centre best practices.
